'Come talk Midlands Rail Hub' urges Midlands Connect to Herefordshire & Worcestershire businesses

Midlands Connect has teamed up with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce to put on a Midlands Rail Hub event and is urging local firms, both big and small and come and hear about the project and get involved.

As part of the Midlands Rail Hub, the Worcester area would see two extra trains every hour, in each direction – one from Worcester Foregate Street to Birmingham, and the other from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham.

Across these two routes, there would be nearly 140 extra trains per week for residents, businesses and commuters, providing around 4 million extra seats per year.

Redditch, Alvechurch and Barnt Green will see one extra train, in each direction, per hour and 2.7 million new seats for passengers, whilst Bromsgrove will see 4.7 million new seats.

For Herefordshire, the Rail Hub promises faster journey times to Birmingham and improved access to other key locations like Worcester and Malvern.

The event is free and is being held on Zoom on 18th June 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00.

Midlands Connect, Head of Rail Andy Clark said:

“We’ve held similar sessions in Birmingham to great success so we are delighted to be partnering with the Chamber to talk about the Midlands Rail Hub.

“My message to firms is that the Rail Hub is a massive transport project and even if you know nothing about the scheme come and sign up and get involved.”

The Midlands Rail Hub project is co-sponsored by Midlands Connect, the Department for Transport and West Midlands Rail Executive.
